Keys to breastfeeding success: Part Two

Agnesian HealthCare provides a free monthly breastfeeding class, educating couples prenatally. These classes are taught by one of our internationally board certified lactation consultants. After delivery, a lactation consult will make a hospital visit to each of our breastfeeding moms. Once returning home, breastfeeding questions and concerns can be addressed by calling our breastfeeding helpline or by returning for an outpatient visit. It’s as easy as a phone call away! Lastly, our breastfeeding support groups meet twice a month allowing moms to meet other moms, ask questions and always have their babies weighed.

In the past 15 years, our lactation consultants have committed themselves to the nursing family, including fathers. Our “Breastfeeding for Moms and Dads” prenatal class shows fathers how they can provide help initially in the hospital and continue with emotional support once returning home. We strive to redefine breastfeeding as the normal infant feeding choice. Each year the scientific discoveries of the properties of breastmilk continue to grow. Our lactations consultants strive to keep updated with current research, providing the newest evidence base care available.
